Summary: Have you ever wondered how you can be the best guide for your child? Do you seek answers on the best methods of raising children that are loving, respectful, and well-behaved? If so, you have picked up the right book for you! Contained within it are step-by-step guides that will show you how to create an atmosphere of love, acceptance, and empathy while allowing the natural consequences of a child’s behavior to do the teaching. The traditional methods of correcting children which involve punishment blame, and instilling fear in them have long been identified as defective in raising well-developed children. The parenting style of using positive discipline instead is a much better approach and this book provides you with all the information you need to get started on it.

It provides valuable insight on various aspects of child upbringing such as how to use discipline as a teaching tool, how to teach children respect, cooperation, problem-solving skills, and much more. The information in it will surely improve your relationship with your child. It will transform you from a stressed-out guardian into a loving friendship with him or her. The wisdom and value in this book will empower you to become a positive parent right from the first chapter. Written in a tone that is easy to understand, it is filled with relatable life strategies that you can make use of on a daily basis to guide your child the right way. Parenting is a great opportunity and it should be treated as such. As you learn about the use of positive discipline, you will be able to enjoy and create even more beautiful memories with your young one.

Gentle Parenting

This little book has some good advice for parenting. Most of it though is best for a first time parent. As a mom of 5, I knew most of what the book shared. However knowing and practicing are two different things. There are things I know I should be doing that sometimes I don’t do. So the book was a good reminder. I especially liked the section on responding to misbehaviour.

The chapters are: The Four Major Parenting Styles, Gentle and Respectful Parenting, Everything Starts with You, Model Positive Discipline, Create the Environment for Success, Setting Kind and Firm Limits, Respond to Misbehavior, Love and Logic Consequences, Apply Respectful Discipline Methods and From Complaining to Contributing.

The fact that it’s a short book is helpful because parents often don’t have as much time to read a long book. This is especially true of parents with young children. The create the environment for success section is the part of the book that is different from most other parenting books. It tells you how to change your home to better suit your children. Things like making sure things they need are at their height but also how to make the area a better place to play are included.

This would be a fine book to include in a baby shower gift basket.
