Summary: If you need help understanding and living with your BPD loved one then Beyond Borderline is for you. This book combines my personal experience with my BPD daughter with extensive research to help you de-escalate episodes, learn about effective, current, and exciting new treatments, debunk myths, explain genetic links, describe what it feels like to have BPD, and more.

As a writer and mother of a BPD child I always wanted to help others living with a mentally ill loved one. My goal in Beyond Borderline, is to help you smooth the roller coaster life that a BPD loved one creates. This book not only describes some of the challenges and hurdles I faced raising and supporting my BPD daughter but gives you the information I wish I had when she was diagnosed.

Beyond Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)

BPD is a difficult to understand mental health disorder and this book does a good job of explaining what it’s like to live with it and what treatments there are for it. I have Bipolar but it was thought I had BPD when I was younger. They are similar in a few ways. I even did DBT (a therapy for BPD) when I was a teen. I definitely had some BPD traits at least when I was younger but I don’t have BPD.

My point is I feel that I can analyze the book quite well to say that it’s a good book. It includes all the symptoms but in details and possible treatments. Examples are given to help you understand what it’s like to live with BPD or live with someone with BPD. Recommendations for websites and books are given at the back of the book.

The book is laid out well and is a must read for understanding a BPD loved one.
