This awesome gem is going to help me get our family ready for any disaster. It doesn’t only tell you what you should have for your 72 hour survival kits and 2 week survival kit. It has checklists so you can check things off as you purchase them.
There are also parts of the book where you can fill it in with your personal information like your family’s health info, mortgage and insurance info and itemizing your valuable possessions. This is all stuff you would need if you had to evacuate and you couldn’t recover your belongings. There is even a pocket in the front for copies of your passports, birth certificates and other important id. Keep this book at the exit of your home so you can grab it on your way out if evacuating.
It’s an American made book so it talks about Social Security numbers and has US emergency information like references to FEMA and the American Red Cross. As a Canadian this isn’t accurate for me BUT it’s totally workable. I just substitute SIN for social security and Canadian Red Cross for American.
There is also a first aid section. It’s no substitute for taking a class of course but it’s helpful starter information.
The chapters are: The Information You’ll Need, When to Stay Put, Preparing for Evacuation, Getting Out, First Aid Basics, Traumatic Injuries and Medical Emergencies. It was written in 2020 and so talks about pandemics and proper hand washing techniques.
