Summary: Christmas should be a time of joy and celebration. But in the hurriedness of December, sometimes we find ourselves sacrificing a sacred pace for hustle, leaving us feeling more stressed than blessed.

What if you approached this Advent more open to the things of God? What if you decided to be expectant that God would move in your midst? What if you made room for the true joy found in the coming of our King?

Prepare Him Room invites you to give God sacred space in your holiday season as you ponder the miracle of Christ within you and respond to His work in your life. As you begin your Christmas preparations this year, journey through Luke’s account of Jesus’ birth, life, death, and ultimate resurrection. God invites you to be still and let Jesus radically transform you this holy season. Let earth receive her King!

Prepare Him Room

I personally think that December is the perfect time to do a devotional, even if you don’t do one year round. I like to do a Christmas devotional every year. This year I’ll be using Prepare Him Room.

This devotional comes with 24 days so is started December 1. They don’t all start December 1 which is why I’m specifying.

Each day starts with a passage that you should read from your own Bible (it’s not included.) You will read Luke 1 to Luke 24 during the book. Then some other bible quotes to consider and then a daily message. At the end is a prayer and then a Look Up section.

Each Look Up section includes something to fast from for the day. Don’t worry, this isn’t food fasting. As explained in the Author’s Note, she takes her inspiration from another book that encourages fasting from all kinds of different things besides food. Each day you will fast from one thing such as: impatience, overdoing, self-contempt, entitlement and all kinds of other things. This is a great idea.

I think it’s a great devotional for Christmas. I just wish the bible verses were included. Although if you read in your own Bible, you can make notes or cross reference as needed.
