Whistling by Elizabeth Partridge
Stars: ****

The book starts out with a father and son camping outside in the open air, waiting for something. The son is asked if he’s ready but he fears he is not. At first we aren’t sure what they are talking about. Soon we understand that the boy is trying to whistle as the sun comes up and has been practicing whistling for some time now.

The story is really cute and is a book featuring camping but not specifically about camping. The illustrations are quilts done by Anna Grossnickle Hines and the back few pages of the book show how she did it.
